Kardenakhi

The village of Kardenakhi is located in eastern Georgia in the wine-growing region of Kakheti in the district of Gurjaani.

In this village, a total vineyard area of approx. 320 hectares is under cultivation.

There is a so-called microzone here, which has the status of a Protected Designation of Origin - PDO. The grape variety of this PDO is Rkatsiteli. The name of this microzone is: Tsarapi.

There are 11 different soil types in this village, which means that you can theoretically produce 11 different types of wine from the same grape variety.
The special thing about Kardenakhi wines is that the majority of the vineyards have deep, humus-rich soils. The temperatures are extremely high in summer. A cool wind comes from the snow-covered Caucasus mountains, which bounces off the Tsiv-Gombori low mountain range and is directed back. This ensures a moderate microclimate in the vineyards, even at extremely high outdoor temperatures. A further advantage is that the rain clouds coming from the west collide with the Caucasus mountains and are discharged here. This in turn means that there is sufficient rainfall even in hot and dry summers.
